National technical university of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute” and Scientific Park “Kyiv polytechnics” signed memorandum on the cooperation with one of the world leaders in the field of information and communication technologies – Huawei Company in September, 14. The document determines basic principles of the cooperation in three directions – education, science and innovations.
The manager of “Huawei Ukraine” Haojie Zhou, rector of NTUU “Igor Sikorsky KPI”, academician of Ukrainian NAS, Mykhailo Zgurovsky and general director of Scientific Park “Kyiv polytechnics”, Volodymyr Hnat signed the document.
The first step of Huawei Company towards cooperation with “Igor Sikorsky KPI” is scholarship assignment in 2016/2017 for students of 3d and 4th courses of 7 faculties that relate to information and communication technologies. The company allocated 5 thousand dollars to carry it out. The representatives of memorandum signing ceremony gave two students a check for such amount. However it is worthy to note that while election of winners a special commission will take into account not only academic achievements but scientific work as well.
By the way, not only university managers but students of several faculties took part in the meeting with managers of Huawei Corporation and document signing ceremony. The company held an exposition devoted to the main business lines and company production. There were the best smart phone of this year in Europe according to European Association of Image and Sound as well as smart watches among exhibit items. By the way, student took part in mini-quiz devoted to the company. Two of them won smart watches.
“The work with higher educational establishments is the part of our corporative social responsibility. Over the last five years, 500 students from European higher educational establishments took part in it, – said director of “Huawei Ukraine”, Haojie Zhou before memorandum signing. – Since 2008 we have been realizing “Seeds for the future” program. In 2016-2021 nearly 2 thousand students from Europe will be able to see with their own eyes how new technologies are arising”. He told also that since the start of the year 2016, Huawei representatives had a meeting with managers and researchers of a series of Ukrainian universities. And it is NTUU “Igor Sikorsky KPI” that became the first Ukrainian higher educational establishment that Ukrainian representation of the company starts broad cooperation with.
