On January 16, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Lee Yang-goo, paid a visit to the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
The head of the diplomatic mission of South Korea met with the leadership of the university. The Rector of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykhailo Zghurovskyi, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Serhii Sydorenko, Director General of the Science Park “Kyiv Polytechnic” Volodymyr Hnat, Head of Foreign Economic Activity Department of the Department of International Cooperation of the University Andrii Shysholin and others attended the meeting.
The meeting participants discussed the implementation of the developments of the Fifth Economic Forum “Ukraine-Korea” to strengthen the ties between business, education and science representatives of Ukraine and South Korea and the mechanisms for their implementation. It bears reminding that this forum took place at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute last summer. The forum outlined the main directions of such cooperation. One of the priorities is the partnership in science, education and high technologies. The participants of the meeting emphasized that the bridge for expanding cooperation should be the Ukrainian-Korean Center for Education, Science and Innovation, at the initiative of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Lee Yang-goo will be established in the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute on the basis of the Ukrainian-Korean IT Center. One of the key tasks of both parties should be the creation of a permanent forum platform, which will involve concrete enterprises and universities of both countries. The platform will be opened to any business structures and scientific organizations of Ukraine and South Korea that would like to cooperate. Finally, it was agreed that the draft concept of the activity of such a platform would be developed by the specialists of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and transferred to the Korean side for finalization, coordination and subsequent reflection in the text of a large framework agreement to be signed by the parties concerned and which will become the normative basis for expanding cooperation.
